Stained Glass Workshop
The full day Glass Workshop is a very full day. You will learn a lot about glass, about making a design and to cut and assemble the glass. At the end of the day you will go home with a finished stained glass panel, just under A4 in size.
The price is € 110 and includes all the material, tution, a delicious lunch and teas, coffees and cake.
You can secure your place by paying the full amount through the website below, or send a cheque or postal order with a €50 deposit to my address.
I will only take up to four students per workshop so that I can give everybody the attention and help they require. For the workshop to go ahead I need at least three participants to make it interesting and worthwhile.
We start early at 10am and finish between 5pm or 6pm.
You will learn about glass, the colours and different types of glass available to buy in Dublin, about painting on glass, matting and etching. And you will get to know lead cames to join the glass together, how to handle them and the tools you need.
Everybody can either draw their own design with straight lines or choose one of the many drawing suggestions I have on hand.
Next step is to learn the cutting of the glass, using a glass cutter, breaking pliers and grozier pliers.
There is a lot of hands on practice to cut and shape the glass pieces.
Then the exiting bit: to choose the colours you like. I do have a whole selection of different colours, shades and textures available to choose from and it is an extremely delightful task. You can now apply your new skill and cut all the pieces for your panel.
To assemble the pieces we will use lead cames and you will learn how to stretch and cut them and put everything together.
Next you will learn how to prepare the panel for soldering and I show you how to solder and to avoid mistakes.
Last step to finish is the cementing (like grouting) the glass panel and I will show you my method which I believe to be very efficient.
